Real science labs.No beakers required.

Free, browser-based labs for middle schools that don't have a science lab. Built for grades 6–8 and ready to run on the Chromebooks you already have.

Free forever. Pilots start in 2027.

How it works

Every lab is written like the handout you'd give your class: a short list of what you need, then the activity. Here's the materials list for all of them.

Materials

  • Chromebooks

Every lab runs in the browser on a school Chromebook. Nothing to install, and no IT request to file.

  • No student logins

Students join with a class code and a nickname. No accounts, passwords, or email addresses.

  • One class period

Each lab is built to fit a single 45-minute class, from opening the link to wrapping up.

  • Teacher-ready materials

A teacher guide, slides, a student worksheet, and a quiz come with every lab, aligned to science standards.

  • Beakers Not required.

Four tracks, twelve sample labs

These are the labs we're considering first. Tell us which tracks your students need in the form below, and we'll build those first.

Track A: AI & Machine Learning

How machines learn from examples, and how they get things wrong.

  • A-01

    Teach the Machine

Train a webcam gesture recognizer, then test how the examples you gave it shape what it learned.

  • A-02

    Bias Detective

Find out how a lopsided training set leads a model to make unfair predictions.

  • A-03

    Fool the AI

Make small changes to images that trick a classifier, and work out why they fool it.

Track B: Biotech

The tools scientists use to read, edit, and track living things.

  • B-01

    CRISPR Editor

Cut and edit a DNA sequence on screen, then predict how the change affects a trait.

  • B-02

    Outbreak Lab

Trace how a disease spreads through a town and test which interventions slow it down.

  • B-03

    Fold It

Explore how a chain of amino acids folds into a protein's shape, and why the shape matters.

Track C: Computational Physics

Simulations where students change the rules and watch what happens.

  • C-01

    Orbit Builder

Place planets, set their speeds, and find the orbits that stay stable.

  • C-02

    Climate Box

Adjust sunlight and greenhouse gases in a model atmosphere and track the temperature.

  • C-03

    Crash Test Engineer

Design a car's crumple zone and measure the forces on the passenger in a collision.

Track D: Chemical Engineering

Taking chemistry from a test tube to a working plant.

  • D-01

    Water Plant

Run each stage of a treatment plant and get dirty water clean enough to drink.

  • D-02

    Battery Designer

Choose electrode materials and build a battery that holds its charge.

  • D-03

    Scale It Up

Take a reaction from a small batch to factory size, and handle what changes along the way.

Tell us a little about your classroom. Only the first three questions are required, but every answer helps us decide which labs to build first.

We'll email you about pilots in 2027 and when labs are ready for your track.

Use your school address if you can.

Which grades do you teach?

Choose all that apply.

Is your school a Title I school?
What devices do your students use in class?
Which tracks interest you?

Choose all that apply. This tells us what to build first.

Would you pilot a lab this school year?

We collect only what you enter on this form, and only about you, the teacher. We never ask for student information. Your answers are stored with our form provider, Formspree, and used to plan labs and contact you about pilots. The waitlist uses no cookies or tracking.
